I Would Have Been A Top Hollywood Actress But...
But for a burst of patriotism, former NTA top shot Grace Egbagbe may have become a Hollywood actress
Grace Egbagbe may be known for her time in the
Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) where she rose to the level of
Executive Director - Marketing. However, but for some fatherly advice,
she may have given the likes of Halle Berry and Whoopi Goldberg a run
for their money in Hollywood.
In an exclusive chat
with Pulse, Grace shed some light on her time in the University of Los
Angeles, California (UCLA) revealing her close interaction with the cast
and crew of American sitcom 'Good Times' as well as her close shave
with Hollywood.
"During my time in UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) we had quite a number of lecturers come in from Hollywood. For instance, we had Maximilian Schell from 'The Man In The Glass Booth', Carrie Grant was also scheduled to come but died before he could make it. But I had the good fortune of doing my internship with Norman Lear who created several hit sitcoms like 'Good Times', 'The Jefferson's', 'All In The Family' and several other great shows. He had originally asked me to be a consultant for the show after I pointed out a misportrayal of Nigeria on an episode of 'Good Times' to him but because I was a student, I settled instead for an internship and he introduced me to the cast of 'Good Times'. Thelma and Wilona became good friends of mine."
However, due to a promise she made to her father, she chose to return home after her stint in UCLA.
"I
was sponsored by the then Bendel state government and my father said I
had to come back and serve my bond after school, but for this I probably
would have become a Hollywood actress" she revealed.
